Originally from France, Alexis Simonot discovers dance at 17 at the Centre de danse international Rosella Hightower. One year later, Alexis is accepted at the entrance competition of the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, where he receives an education in teaching. He then works in Paris with the greatest names in dance, particularly the Opéra de Paris and Europa Danse. He also meets top choreographer Misook Seo, from the Korea National Ballet, with whom he develops much of his choreographic sensibility.
In 2001, he joins the Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. In 2003, he is hired at the Grand Théâtre de la Scala in Milan before pursuing a career in teaching, starting at the Conservatoire de danse de Montréal, under the artistic direction of Alexandre Seillier. Under the direction of Margreth Mehyus, he is featured as the principal dancer with the Ballet Ouest company where he performs different roles from the classical repertoire. Alexis establishes the Ballet métropolitain de Montréal in 2004 and the Académie du ballet métropolitain in 2008.
