The International Ballet Competition of Canada aims to promote classical and contemporary ballet primarily to the general public as well as to discover young talent.
The first edition of the Competition will take place in Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA, from Friday, April 3th to Sunday, April 5th, 2020.
All events, final events and Gala Night closing the Competition will take place at the Théâtre de la Cité Universitaire of Laval University.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The Competition is open to female and male dancers of all nationalities, from any classical ballet training organization (private schools, non-profit organizations, vocational training schools) or registered as free candidates (students or professionals). To be eligible to participate in the Competition, each candidate must be at least 7 years old and a maximum of 25 years on the day of the final events.
In order to allow a fair evaluation of each candidate during the tests, each candidate must register in the matching category. Categories are based on the following criteria:
- Discipline: CLASSICAL BALLET or CONTEMPORARY BALLET
- Mode of passage: INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES, or GROUPS (3 and more people)
- Sector of activity: LEISURE, STUDIES or PROFESSIONALS
- Academic level: for the LEISURE and STUDIES sectors, additional categorization is done based on the age and level of the candidate, depending on the discipline and the mode of passage. For the INDIVIDUAL mode of passage, a distinction is also made between the categories FEMINE and MASCULINE.
Applicants must enter the category corresponding to their discipline, the mode of passage chosen, their sector of activity and, when applicable, the academic level corresponding to their age and gender.
The same person may register as a candidate in several eligible categories, for different disciplines and modes of passage, but only once for the same discipline in a given mode of passage.
The registration fees apply for each participant for each of the categories in which they are registered. Registration and payment of the registration fee are made on the Competition’s website (Registration section). Internet credit card transactions are fully secured through the PayPal™ electronic payment system.
The deadline for receiving registrations on the Internet is set no later than one week before the Competition date, Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time).
